Kia ora, I'm Jamie. Kiwi born and bred. Titanic fanboy. Trying to keep up with 14-year-old me, who thought directing would be easy and fame was imminent. Cut my teeth on films like Rings and Avatar. Since then, I've directed some shorts that have screened and won awards around the globe.

Jamie Lawrence (he/him) is a queer Pākehā writer-director based in Aotearoa New Zealand. He's a scholarship graduate of NYC Film Academy, and an alumnus of New Zealand's Script to Screen FilmUp programme and MIFF's Accelerator Lab. He has ranked among Best Ads’ top 10 Kiwi commercial directors, winning multiple craft awards along the way. Jamie is repped by Scoundrel across Australasia and Asia.
Jamie’s feature projects – sci-fi fantasy SKIN (Sweetshop Entertainment) and adventure biopic SOLO (Vendetta) – are in active development with New Zealand Film Commission support. Cinematic, emotional, and rooted in character, the kaupapa of his work explores the healing power of the natural world and the fight to feel safe in your own skin.
